The Jagannath Temple in Ranchi is gearing up for the Rath Yatra on July 18.
Already cleaning and sweeping work has begun and the Rath of the Bhagwan Jagannath is being built.”We will make the entire Rath and Temple ready before the Rath Yatra”,said Sawami Sumitra Mohan,a staff of the temple.
The temple,about 10 km from the main town. The temple is on top of a small hillock.It was built by king of Barkagarh Jagannathpur Thakur Ani Nath Shahdeo, during 1691.It is similar to the famous Jagannath temple in Puri,Orissa.
Along the temple,shops,police camp and swim are coming up.Like the previous year,this time thousands of tribal and non tribal people from Ranchi and its adjoining areas expected to participate in the Rath Yatra.
