IIT,Mumbai, one of the most prestigious institutes in the country,is gearing up to hold its XVIth Techfest,Asia’s largest Science and Technological Festival.
The festival,slated to be held in Mumbai on January 3-5,during the past 15 editions since 1958,was patronized by UNESCO. Techfest,with an avowed goal to provide a platform to students, show cases their talent in the field of technology.
The last Techfest saw a spectacle with a huge participation of over 92,000 visitors,6000 Corporate executives and faculty members from about 2,200 colleges and 500 Universities located in far flung areas of India and abroad..
“Apart from the events during the festival, Techfest works for the society as a socio-technical festival with initiatives taken up by the team each year”, states a communiqué drafted by Hari Shankar, Co-ordinator (Media & Marketing),himself a student of IIT Bombay,B.Tech 2nd Year(Metallurgical Engineering).
“There is going to be a panorama of activities with over 150 events during the three day Techfest in January.In addition,we have various events lined up for diverse sections of society-varying from fields of technology,society and economy”,said Hari Shankar.
