If the Indian Institute of Management-Ranchi was bogged down by lack of its own campus, its counterpart in Bangalore was grappling with the case of its woman medical officer who had alleged that his colleague and IIM-Bangalore’s chief administrative officer had been exploiting her sexually.

In Ranchi, the state government had provided a plot of land to IIM at Nagri village to build its campus there. But due to the agitation launched by the anti displacement bodies, its management compelled to run its classes from a premise given to it by the state government on rent, was not ready to undertake construction work there.

IIIM-Ranchi’s Director MJ Xavier was trying to influence the state government to provide it another plot of land. But since he had not got success till date, its students continued to suffer silently.

In Bangalore,a case of sexual harassment came to light with its woman medical officer alleging that IIM-Bangalore’s chief administrative officer had been sexually exploiting her for the past more than two years. In protest against it,a women’s rights group staged a protest in front of the institute in Bangalore on Thursday demanding action against the official.

The protesters criticized the management for the inordinate delay in initiating action against the administrative official, police said. The report from Bangalore said the lady medical officer had filed the complaint and on the basis of it the National Women Commission had directed the IIM-B to enquire into it in 2010.But nothing happened against the alleged culprit.

Now,while the protesters were gearing up to submit a memorandum to the IIM,Bangalore’s Director,a section of its employees staged a protest in support of the official who is facing allegations of harassment.
