Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd is on the roll.Its newly manufactured plant – “New OBBP & Base Blending facilities”-meant for the Rourkela Steel Plant was commissioned at a cost of RS 735 Crore and dedicated to the nation by SAIL chairman C.S.Verma.
“The plant was designed,engineered,manufactured,supplied,constructed,erected,tested and commissioned by the company in consortium with Shapoorji & Pallonji Co. Ltd.It has been designed and constructed with latest gadgets”,said a HEC’s communiqué.
HEC claimed that more than 100 engineers and supervisors and about 1200 workers were engaged by various agencies of the company to complete the project in 3 years.
“In a competitive environment,clients and investors are increasingly demanding high standards of quality and professional competence .We have no hesitation in admitting that the New OBBP Plant delivered by our company to Rourkela Steel Plant is fully meeting these requirements”,said the communiqué.
In fact,HEC,a sick PSU,was faced with closure.
Admits the same communiqué:” It was at this hour of crisis,big orders of Turnkey Projects for Ore Handling Plant, New Coal Handling Plant from Bhillai Steel Plant and Ore Bedding & Blending Plant from Rourkela were secured by HEC amidst stiff global competition with Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Macnally Bharat Engineering Co,TRF and other major players in the field. These orders played an extremely vital role in revival of the company and has made significant contribution in improving the top line and profitability of the Company.”
