The health delivery system in Jharkhand is going to be strengthened by involving private players.”All Sadar hospitals and diagonistic centres will be equipped with latest equipements. They will be managed by private companies”,said the state health Minister Hemlal Murmu.
Murmu, who addressed a meeting of investors held at Radisson blu hotel in Ranchi on Wednesday, said that all the Sadar hospitals in the state are planned to be run on private- public-partnership(PPP) basis.
”If this experiment proved successful, the referral hospitals and public health centers will also be run on the PPP basis”,said Murmu.”This will pave the way for upgradation of health services and the patients will not have to go out of the state for treatment.”
As per the health policy of the state, the cost incurred on treatment and surgery of patients belonging to the Below Poverty Line was borne by the state government. This led to flight of big sums of money from this state to other states.”When the health infrastructure and facilities will improve, this money of the state will remain within the state”,said Jharkhand’s Principal Secretary(Health)K.Vidyasagar.
The meet was attended by representatives of top companies including Essar,Semens,Dev Kamal,Health Point and Kolkata Heart Research Centre. The private partners are to be screened and selected by June 13.
