The President’s rule in Jharkhand is expected to be a reality later today. The Union Cabinet meeting this morning is going to give its approval.
For Jharkhand this is its third stint under President’s rule.
This became inevitable after JMM withdrew its support to the Arjun Munda government on January 8 and subsequently no party or coalition of parties was in a position to stake a claim to form the government.
But Munda government in its last Cabinet meeting recommended dissolution of the Assembly and asked for the mid term poll,a move backed by the BJP and its allies-All Jharkhand Students Union and JD(U) and its arch rivel Jharkhand Vikas Morcha led by Babulal Marandi.
In response,Governor Syed Ahmad had recommended President’s rule in the state while keeping the Assembly under suspended animation.
The President’s rule will be imposed after the Cabinet approves Governor Ahmad;s recommendation and the accent is provided by President Pranab Mukherjee.
