A new chapter was added in the field of charity when a Ranchi based NGO Friends of Weaker Society in league with its counterpart of the US-Canada paid tution fees of 200 odd students of the minority community.
The NGO had adopted these students.Most of them belonged to the poorest of the poor Muslim families residing in slum areas in Ranchi.They were studying in 22 different schools and colleges in Jharkhand.
Two Students-Sultan Ahmed and Afroz Alam -who had scored high scores in school examinations conducted by Jharkhand Academic Council,were honoured in a meeting held in Ranchi on July 7.The meeting was presided by Jharkhand State Minority Commission Chairman Shahid Akhtar.
NGO’s president Tanveer Ahmed said that inorder to contain the problem of school drop outs,Society was running four guidance centres.
