
The Jharkhand –based Catholic and Protestant Church is observing God’s directive on Good Friday,in a move to humanize the faithful and make them free from negative use of religion.
Inside the ground of Loyla in Ranchi,the followers of Jesus Crist offered paryer.Many of them observe a fast on Good Friday, the day on which the crucifixion of Christ is commemorated.
Besides, the faithful went for a 50-day Lent before the Easter Sunday.During this period they are supposed to shun,especially non-vegetarian food and liquor.On this occasion,Cardinal Telephore Toppo delivered lecture and told followers the historical background and importance of the Good Friday.
“Follow the directive of the God”,Cardinal Toppo told them.
Similarly,Church of North India’s Jharkhand based Bishop BB Baske told the followers to make themselves ready to adopt the path of Crucification.”This can make every body feel proud”,he said.
Incidentally,Good Friday, the Friday before Easter, the day on which Christians annually observe the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. From the early days of Christianity, Good Friday was observed as a day of sorrow, penance, and fasting, a characteristic that finds expression in the German word Karfreitag (“Sorrowful Friday”).
Accordingly, on Good Friday, the members of the Church are asked not to watch TV, or use internet, mobile phone and social media apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, twitter and LinkedIn. The 24-hour cyber fast would begin from the evening of the Maundy Thursday and would end on Good Friday evening.
