Eve-teasing leads to VHP bandh in Mango

vhpA bandh called by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad today affected normal life in Mango area of Jamshedpur where prohibitory orders have been clamped following a clash between two communities over an eve-teasing incident.

Traffic was disrupted due to road blockades set up by bandh supporters demanding arrest of those responsible for the eve-teasing last night, the police said.

Both the communities gathered in groups at different places but could not come close due to the police prevention, a police officer said adding senior district officials were camping at Mango.

The situation is tense but under control and adequate security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order, Commissioner of Kolhan Division, Arun, said.

All shops and markets in Jamshedpur are closed today being the weekly off day.

A similar eve-teasing incident had taken place two days ago in the area.
