Yet another mega investment plan is set to fructify under the tenure of chief minister Arjun Munda in the new year-2013- when production in the Electrosteel Steels Ltd(ESL) is slated to start.ESL has provided job to more than 4,000 people.
“It’s a matter of pride for all of us that this plant is getting ready to be commissioned”,said chief minister Arjun Munda.
Prior to ESL,Munda had inaugurated the state’s first private power generation unit of the Adhunik Power Plant at Kharsawn-Saraikela last month.
Now,ESL,with its 2.2 million tonne plant at Chandankayari in Bokaro district,promoted by Kolkata based ductile iron pipe maker Electrosteel Castings Ltd and Stemcor of the UK,with Rs 2,200 crore funds made available by the State Bank of India,was designed and built by the Chinese steel major Laiwu Steel Group Limited (LSGL).
This is the first green field project gearing up to begin production with the Chinese assistance in January,2013.The company has a 120 MW power plant as well.
To begin with,ESL will not only start production of 1.2 MTPA long product of steel, 0.27 MTPA commercial billet, 0.4 MTPA pig iron & 0.33 MTPA Ductile Iron Pipe and it will be based on Coke Oven, Sinter Plant, Pellet Plant, Blast Furnace, Basic Oxygen Furnace, Billet Caster, Wire Rod Mill and Bar Mill,but also produce 150 MW power.
