English Lecturer goes to jail on charge of fraud


Jharkhand High CourtA man was arrested on charge of fraud and sent to jail.Nothing unusual except that the accused Dr Amar Kumar Singh is a lecturer at Sidhu Kanu University’s post graduate department of English in Dumka.

The FIR fled by the then Registrar Raghunandan Ram on March 1,2008,alleged that the University had released Rs 50,000 for the department’s library.But Singh instead of spending the money on buying books,had deposited it in his own bank account.

Later,even after he was placed on suspension,he continued to use the seal of the department’s head fraudulently,alleged Ram in his complaint.

Responding to the FIR,he moved the Jharkhand High Court.But when the court rejected his petition seeking bail,he was arrested and brought to justce on Frday.
