Ahead of Diwali, banners and posters put up along the busy road sides and market places in Jharkhand’s capital were removed by Ranchi Municipal Corporation(RMC),leaving its skyline and walls clean.
As per the RMC’s guideline,no advertisement can be put up in its area of jurisdiction without paying tax to it.
But none of 400 odd banners and posters that were removed by the RMC on Thursday had paid any tax, claimed RMC’s staff Sudhir Singh.
“Had they paid tax,we would have earned a substantial amount”,said Singh adding that the remove- illegal- banner-poster drive continued on Friday.
They were removed from Kutchery chowk,Shaheed chowk,Albert Ekka chowk,Sarjana chowk,Taxi stand,Overbrdge,Kadru,Ashok Nagar,Argora,Harmu By Pass, and Ratu Road. After seizing these publicity materials, they were destroyed.
