Mahendra Singh DhoniTeam India Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who lost 1-2 to England in the 4-Test series, has been in the eye of storm. Some of his critics had demanded his ouster.

Responding to them,Dhoni, hitherto known as Mr Cool, had blasted them.“We have bowled for 10 hours and took only three wickets. We have to evaluate and analyze what happened. It is easy to say sitting there (by some ex-players in the commentary box),” Dhoni said in the post-match media conference.

On the pitch and field placements,Dhoni said one should play to the advantage of the sub-continent pitches.“The pitch was not easy, it was playing slow. Batting well or bowling well doesn’t necessarily mean scoring centuries or taking four or five wickets. We have to analyze how they are performing in totality,” he said.

In an apparent reference to the transition of Indian cricket going through following the retirements of Rahul Dravid and V V S Laxman on one hand and the poor form of legend Sachin Tendulkar on the other, Dhoni said, “Youngsters are coming up. So, seniors should take the extra responsibility.”

Hitting out at the Press, he said, “…It’s your (press) propaganda. You make headlines. Cricket is not a game of revenge. It’s not good because revenge mentality breeds desperation. That is not good. Only teams playing consistent cricket do well.”

Dhoni has became the scapegoat for some ex-cricketers after India lost the Test Series Cup to England at home after 28 years.
