For the first time Team India captain Mahedra Singh Dhoni alias Mahi will play the ODI between India and England in the newly constructed stadium of the Jharkhand Cricket Stadium in his home town on January 19.
Mahi, who was born and brought up in Ranchi, learnt playing cricket on the roadside in Shamali colony.Since there was no world class cricket stadium,Ranchi had never witnessed any international match on its land.
Now,with the JSCA building an excellent stadium,Mahi is set to lead the Team India against England. To make the event a spectacle, the JSCA is leaving no stone unturned.”The pitch is favourable to batsman and it can facilitate many sixes and fours”,said JSCA’s chief curator Basudev, who expects 300 plus runs to roll out on this pitch for a team.
Basudev, who is expected to begin giving final touches to the pitch from on January 11,said:”To make it convenient to bowlers, whether some grass will be left on the pitch will be decided by the JSCA.”
Along both sides of the road leading to the stadium, flower plants were sowed.Even the Ranchi Municipal Corporation has undertaken cleaning exercise.
