Dhanbad District administration has bagged the prestigious United Nations Public Service Award.
In fact,Dhanbad was 2nd place winner in improving the delivery towards effectiveness,efficiency and quality of public service by way of improving disbursement of pensions.
Before the implementation of Swavalamban initiative of the Government of India,it had inherited the legacy of manual process of disbursement in the payment of pensions,particularly registration of pensioners.The process was very cumbersome,tedious and involved lot of paper work.
With Ajay Kumar Singh,IAS as its Deputy Commissioner,it took an e –initiative in 2010-11 .Soon,the entire process became computer driven.It immensely facilitated pensioners to get the disbursement and payment online.
The award was given to Singh by United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs.
