Devashish Gupta will head the Jharkhand Public Service Commission for more than one and half years.
Gupta,a retired IAS officer and vice chairman of the state’s planning board,was appointed as chairman of the JPSC by the state government .A notification toward this end was issued by the state personnel department on Friday evening.
As per the law,any JPSC chairman can hold the office till he/she attains 62-year age.Gupta is going to succeed JPSC’s chairman Shiv Basant,who is slated to retire on July 7.Since Gupta will attain the age of 62 in March 2015,he will stay on this job for almost 20 months.
When asked when he plans to take charge of the new assignment,Gupta said:”After I go through the notification,I will decide”.
