Asunta is one of the six Indian girls who played their second Olympic Qualifier in London.

She is known as a solid midfielder and tireless player.She was captain of India’s women hockey team.A backbone of the Indian team for over 8 years,her style and leadership are gifted.She played Jr. World Cup in 2005; Sr. World Cup and Commonwealth Games twice, and participated in the Asia Cup twice.

Asunta hails from non descript village in Simdega district.She is a sister of two international hockey players:Bimal Lakra and Birendra Lakra (Sr.).

As a student of Ranchi based Government Girls High School, Bariatu, she made her Jr. international debut in Hong Kong in 2000 U-18 Cup.

Asunta is a match winner.When she is with the stick in the field,she has the potential to change the destiny of the match.This she had done many a time. Very agile, reflexive, she sets up goals for the forwards. She is an aggressive pivot.
