The state government has started preparing to hold Chhau Mahotsav cum Tourism fair in Jharkhand.
In fact,Chhau dance (popular in Jharkhand,Orissa and West Bengal)is a genre of tribal martial dance.
In all,there are three subgenres of the dance, based on its place of origin and development, Seraikella(Jharkhand) Chhau, Mayurbhanj(Orissa) Chhau and Purulia(West Bengal) Chhau.
By holding Chhau Mahatsav cum Tourism fair,the Raghubar Das government aims to popularise it and attract tourists from across the country and the world at large.
To organise it,Chief Minister Raghubar Das held a meeting with the concerned officials inside Project Bhawan in Ranchi today.”Hold Chhau Mahotsav in the form of the fair of Art”,said Das addressing the state government officials headed by Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba.
“By using the Chhau Mahotsav,the tribal art and culture should be promoted”,he said.
