There will be no cockarage in the food served to students under the Mid Day Meal(MDM) scheme in the state government run schools in Jharkhand.Alas, for these students, lack of nutritious food will be passé.

For,the state government led by BJP leader and Chief Minister Raghubar Das is planning to serve egg to them thrice a week.Right now, even though the state education department is supposed to provides egg once a week under MDM schem, many schools had registered complaint that food made available to them lacked egg and often carried dirt, filth and cockarage.

As per the Das government’s plan, the fund will be provided to every school to purchase egg and serve it to students thrice a week. Those students who will not eat egg, will get fruit, claims the plan made by the education department and approved by the state finance department.

During financial year 2013-14,Rs 192 crore annually was sanctioned for the one egg plan. Now,for the financial year 2015-16,the amount is going to be Rs 480 crore annually. The plan believes that eggs are among the few foods that are loaded with nutrients, some of which are rare in the modern diet.

After Chief Minister Raghubar Das signes the file, the plan will be implemented after the state Cabinet approves it.However, the plan takes it for granted that there are atleast 10 health benefits of eggs that have been confirmed in human studies.

Which is why a whole egg contains all the nutrients required to turn a single cell into a baby chicken.

A single large boiled egg contains:
Vitamin A: 6% of the RDA.
Folate: 5% of the RDA.
Vitamin B5: 7% of the RDA.
Vitamin B12: 9% of the RDA.
Vitamin B2: 15% of the RDA.
Phosphorus: 9% of the RDA.
Selenium: 22% of the RDA.
Eggs also contain decent amounts of Vitamin D,Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, Calcium and Zinc.
