Das govt appoints Rajiv Gauba as Chief Secretary

Rajiv GaubaRajiv Gauba, a 1982 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as Chief Secretary of Jharkhand.

Gauba,known for his credibility and administrative ability,will be replacing Sajal Chakrabarty.

Gauba has been on central deputation since 2009, after serving as the Resident Commissioner at Jharkhand Bhawan in New Delhi from 2005 to 2008.

Prior to this, he has also served as the Private Secretary to the Ministers of Environment & Forests, Non-Conventional Energy Sources and Defence.

Between 2001 and 2004, he was with the Department of Disinvestment,
Ministry of Finance, at the Embassy of India in Washington DC.

He has also held various important assignments in the undivided state of Bihar, including as Collector and District Magistrate in the districts of Nalanda, Muzaffarpur and Gaya(Bihar).
