Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba today opined that in Jharkhand where more than 70 percent of the agriculture sector was dependent on the rain water,the watershed management programme has an added significance.

“There it is necessary to promote watershed management programme so that farmers can draw benefit from it”,he said while reviewing the Integrated Water Management Programme(IWMP) in Ranchi on Tuesday.

The responsibility to .implement IWMP was vested in the Forest Department,District Agriculture Officer,Watershed Cell cum date centre,water resources and fishery department.Principal Secretary(Rural Development0 NN Sinha presented details of the IWMP.

The meeting was attended among others by Development Commissioner RS Poddar,Principal Secretary,Forest,Arun Kumar Singh,Secretar5y and Agriculture,Nitin Mohan Kulkarny.
