On a day when the dreaded CPI(Maoist) reportedly launched its week long ‘Martyrdom week’ on November 24,the security forces remained alert across Jharkhand.
They had arrested an Area Commander Mukhlal Yadav in Garhwa and recovered 1540 rounds of catridges and a rifle on Friday.
On Saturday, the security forces reportedly kept vigil in the CPI(Maoist) infested areas in Garhwa,Palamau,Lohardaga and Latehar.
IG(Operation)SN Pradhan told the media that there were intelligence inputs suggesting that the CPI(Maoist)’s People’s Liberation Army which annually observed the Martyr’s week from December 2 to 8,had decided to prepone and enforce it this week to coincide with their leader Koteshwar Rao alias Kishanji’s death anniversary today.
According to Pradhan, security forces were directed to keep vigil on railway tracks, mobile towers, government offices, police stations, prisons and highways as the Maoists usually targeted these places during their violent agitations.
PTI report said:”On November 19, the Centre had asked all Maoist-affected states, including Jharkhand, to step up anti-Maoist operations as the Maoists were planning to intensify their offensive during the week to observe the first death anniversary of Kishenji.”
