CP Singh quits as Jharkhand Speaker

CP Singh today resigned as Speaker of the Jharkhand Assembly.

A notification toward this end was issued by the Jharkhand Assembly this evening.

Singh,a BJP MLA from Ranchi,who ought to have resigned after the rival JMM leader Hemant Soren took oath as Chief Minister on July 13,clung to the prestigious seat.He even conducted the proceedings of the Assembly when Soren tabled and won the vote of confidence on July 18.

Now,with Singh out,the ruling coalition comprising Congress,RJD and JMM backed by seven MLAs of smaller parties and Independents have to elect their own Speaker.

As per the deal struck among these allies,JMM’s MLA Shashank Shehar Bhogta is set to elected as Speaker
