The so called ‘revolt’staged by three Congressmen including tribal leader Stephen Marandi was seen as a ploy to get ministership in the JMM-Congress government in the making.

All these Congressmen are from Santhal Pargana division with Dumka as its headquarter town.Marandi was defeated by JMM’s Hemant Soren in 2009 Assembly polls.

This time, when Hemant is gearing up to be sworn in as chief minister, these Congress leaders were opposed to the seat sharing deal struck by the Congress and the JMM.As per the deal, these parties were to share the total number of Lok Sabha seats in the ratio of 4:10 respectively.

Most of the seats allotted to the JMM were from Santhal Pargana. This was not favoured by these Congressmen who were aspirants to these seats. Moreover, they were also ambitious and desired plum posts of ministership or chairman/vice chairmanship of the state owned boards and corporations in the Hemant Soren’s dispensation.Hence the projected resentment,’revolt’ and trouble.

Since none of these Congressmen were MLAs,they were not expected to make any impact on formation of the Government in the making.”Everything will become alright within a couple of days”,said JMM leader and former minister Hazi Hussain Ansari.
