The Task Force headed by Development Commissioner was set up to contain poverty and expedite development of agriculture in the state, said Chief Minister Raghubar Das today.
Right now,the total population living behind the poverty line is nearly 37 percent. The state government aims to reduce this percentage in the next 2-3 years.”The aim was to improve the life style of the poor people.Their all round development is the commitment of the state government”,said Das.
“It is important to strengthen the agriculture sector to eliminate poverty. The large percentage of the state’s population lives in rural areas who were dependent on agriculture.By strengthening agriculture, the economy of rural areas can be improved. This can help the people living below the poverty line to rise and shine”,he said.
The Task Force comprises :Development Commissioner,Principal Secretary(Rural Development),Secretary(Urban Development),Secretary(Industry),Secretary(Labour) and Director(Self Employment).
This Task Force is supposed to prepare a plan to end poverty and suggest programmes to introduce reforms in rural development schemes.
