Jharkhand government and Coal India Ltd are planning to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to utilise water lying stored inside the closed coal mines.
The water lying inside underground coal mines in the state will be pumped out through a pipeline by the state government and make it available to farmers for irrigation purposes in the neighbouring areas.
A decision toward this end was taken in a meeting between Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das and Secretary(Coal),Government of India,Anil Swarup in Ranchi on September 13,2016.
As per their talks,Coal India Ltd will make available this water to the state government and in turn,the state government will make it supplied to people in the neighbouring areas.The project is planned to be excuted after these two bodies ink MoU.
