Chief Secretary Reviews the Rural Development

ram-sewakThe creation of necessary infrastructure in rural areas will prove to be a boon in removal of rural poverty. To generate sustainable employment opportunities the programmes must be implemented effectively and timely. Chief Secretary Shri R S Sharma said this today at a review meeting of the Rural Development Department.

Chief Secretary said that digitization is important to maintain transparency in rural areas. There should be a monitoring system enforce for all MNREGA workers and to analyze the workforce. He directed to devise a strategy for on time payment of wages as per the job description of the workers.

The Chief Secretary laid stress on formulating payment through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) mode. The bank account number and the Aadhar card must be seeded in fixed timeframe for DBT, he added.

Chief Operating Officer, JSLPS, Shri Bishnu Charan Parida presented the NRLM progress report. The induction session of recently absorbed employees has been completed. The strengthening and formation as well registration of Self Help Groups has made considerable progress. The financial inclusion of SHG Bank A/Cs and micro plan of training and
preparation has made good progress. The training and capacity building programmes for women has also been successfully accomplished, he said.

Secretary, Rural Development Department Shri Arun along with other officials was present during the meeting.
