The blood soaked earth and recovery of arms and ammunitions from near Gurdag village in Latehar district today revealed that the security forces had dealt a major blow to Naxals.In the encounter between them,four Maoists were reportedly killed.
Reports reaching Jharkhand’s capital claimed that the security forces and the Maoists were locked in an an encounter near Gurdag village this morning.The gun battle reportedly started after the CRPF and the state police reached the spot on a tip off.
“Suddenly we were fired at.Our jawans retaliated.In the ensuing exchange of fire lasting for an hour,four naxals were gunned down”,said Latehar SP Kranthi Kumar.
Though the police had not found any of their bodies,the blood stains were reportedly litered around the site of the encounter.”The villagers had seen the retreating Naxals who had escaped with the dead bodies.Later they narrated the story to us”,the SP said.
After the gun battle stopped,the security forces scanned the area.They spotted the blood soaked earth and recovered arms and ammunitions including three rifles, 33 cartridges and Rs 2,500 cash.
