Banks and States asked to help crisis-ridden farmers, says Minister

The Union Government said today that the state-level bankers’ committee and states have been asked to provide relief to the crisis-ridden farmers following destruction of their crops by unseasonal rains and hailstorm.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

He said, “In view of the recent unseasonal rain and hailstorm in several parts of the country, the Government has issued advisory to all State Level Bankers’ Committees to take immediate steps to mitigate the hardship of farmers in accordance with the guidelines/instructions issued by RBI/GoI.”
