Ramgarh and Hazaribagh observed a bandh today in protest to police firing at Pagaar village, Keredari on Tuesday killing one Keshar Mahto. It is reported that a scuffle broke out between the contractors and villagers at the construction site of the NTPC power plant office. ‘Protests went out of control’, said the police officials. “Though no instruction was given, policemen Rana Pratap Singh and Ravindra Sharma are reported to have opened fire, killing one and injuring about five people”, said Keredari police station incharge, Rajiv Ranjan.

“Anyone found guilty in the firing will not be spared”, said Hemant Soren on return from Delhi. He added, “Industrialisation cannot take place at gunpoint”. Soren visited the injured in Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS).
