A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Secretary, Electronics & Information Technology Department, Government of India, Shri. R.S. Sharma at Project Building.
Sharma said that the automation process has started long back in Jharkhand. Enabling automation in Municipality will help to provide many services for the public.
Ranchi Municipal Corporation is partnering with National Informatics Centre (NIC) and eGovernments Foundation (eGov) – a non-profit trust based in Bangalore – to implement an integrated municipal e-governance program to improve Citizen Services, efficiency and effectiveness in Municipal operations.
eGov’s Municipality software is an integrated system covering a broad array of functionalities including Financial Accounting, Property Tax, Trade License, Public Works, Building Plan Approval, Public Grievance Redressal Systems; eGov’s software has been successfully implemented in Chennai, Nagpur, New Delhi, and several municipalities in Karnataka.
Sharma said that once its implemented in Ranchi, this eMunicipality software will be rolled-out across Jharkhand to ensure consistent and seamless operations across the state. This initial pilot in Ranchi will be partly funded by NIC, in its effort to support modernization of municipalities across India.
Chief Secretary, Rajiv Gauba will benefit many public services.
Director General, NIC, Ajay Kumar, Dy. Director General, NIC, Vandana Sharma, Secretary, Information Technology Department,Sunil K. Barnwal, Secretary, Urban Development Department, A.K. Singh, Municipal Commissioner, Shri. Prashant Kumar and officials of the concerned Department were present in the meeting.
