Assembly approves Bill for JHC’s Circuit Bench in Dumka

6_04_03_10_Jharkhand_Vidhansabha_H@@IGHT_230_W@@IDTH_310Jharkhand Assembly today passed a Bill promising to set up Circuit Bench of Jharkhand High Court in Dumka,headquarter of Santhal Pargana Division in Jharkhand.

The Bill proposed by the ruling BJP government and supported by almost every member of the Assembly was passed.This means that the state government will set up infrastructure for running the Circuit Bench of the High Court in Dumka.

Right now,the Jharkhkhand High Court,one of the newest High Courts in India,was established in 2000 under the Bihar Reorganisation Act, 2000,when the state of Jharkhand was carved out of the state of Bihar. The court has jurisdiction over Jharkhand state.

The seat of the court is at Ranchi, the administrative capital of the state. Though the court has a sanctioned judge strength of 20,it has only 14 Judges.With the Circuit Court in Dumka,the Jharkhand High Court will require atleast three Judges to function it.

The move of the BJP led government has been widely greeted by the people,especially the lawyers,administrators,businessmen and educationists of Santhal Pargana.
