Area commander of PLFI killed in police encounter

An area commander of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) was killed by Jharkhand Police in an encounter at Kunjla village in Khunti district.

When a police team went for a search operation in Kunjla, they were fired upon and in a retaliatory fire, Nicholas Pahan, who was leading the PLFI group, was killed. Another militant called Suren Pandit was arrested, said the police.

According to the police, Nicholas Pahan is wanted in 22 cases. He has killed many people and has also been involved in many encounters with the police.

The police have recovered four pistols and bullets from the ultras.
DIG Ranchi range Arun Kumar Singh has lauded the police action, saying it was a brave and courageous effort.
