In the wake of Naxal problem in the country, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today asked all Naxal-affected states to appoint as district magistrates and superintendents of police such officers who have the “zeal” to fight the rebels.
Addressing the Eastern Zonal Council (EZC) meeting in Patna, the Home Minister said that without peace and security, development was not possible in the country. Hence, ensuring security for everyone is the primary objective of the government, he said.
He appealed to all Maoist-hit states to appoint those officers who have the zeal to fight the rebels as DMs and SPs. He said in the presence of chief ministers of Jharkhand, Bihar and two Ministers from Odisha and West Bengal that these four states, members of EZC, are all affected by the Naxal problem.
The Home Minister said in order to control Naxal violence strong and proper leadership is required and, therefore, it is necessary to appoint good officers in the Naxal-affected districts.
