In Jharkhand, 204 projects and 38,296 Anganwadi Centres were operational until June 30 this year under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme.
These facts were made public by Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Krishna Tirath on the floor of the Rajya Sabha in response to a question raised by its MP Parimal Nathwani.
In fact,Nathwani had sought to know the details of new projects that were taken up in the state under the ICDS scheme.In his reply,irath informed that his Ministry had sanctioned 20 pending projects of the state for operationalization during 2011-12.
Tirath further said 964.77 children of six months to six years and pregnant women and lactating mothers received supplementary nutrition till September 30 this year out of which 26.60 lakh were from Jharkhand. Similarly,352.05 lakhs children of three to six years attended Anganwadi centres for pre-school education in the country as on the same date; out of which 12.76 lakh children were from Jharkhand,the minister added.
