downloadDirector General of Central Reserve Police Force Prakash Mishra has said that all big operations in Naxal-hit states will now be cleared after approvals from the CRPF headquarters in Delhi.
He has decided to monitor the security forces offensives in the Naxal areas after his visit to some of the worst Naxal-affected states of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
It is also said that Mishra has taken this decision in the wake of the Sukma encounter in Chhattisgarh in which 14 personnel of the CRPF were killed during an operation where a large contingent of over 2,000 personnel of the force were mobilised to strike against the red ultras.
Reportedly he has said that now the large operations would be approved by the headquarters in Delhi and he and his team members would be involved with the ground operations at the planning and execution stages.
He said large operations lead to larger visibility of the force personnel thereby making them vulnerable to be spotted and identified. Hence, before embarking on such exercises, the CRPF headquarters will decide on the merits and requirements for launching such offensives, added Mishra.
He said the thrust areas for the force remain the states of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
