Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasham district Dairy Chairman Challa Srinivasa Rao,a contractor involved in building road sponsored by the Asian Development Bank in Jharkhand’s Sahebgunj district,who was missing since Thursday night,remain traceless.
The motive of the yet to be identified culprits responsible for his abduction was suspected to be ‘ransom’.But the police discounted the possibility of his kidnapping by the ultra left extremists-Maoists.There are no Maoists around Sahebgunj,said Jharkhand’s police spokesperson and IG,SN Pradhan told Jharkhandstatenews.com.
“We suspect that he was kidnapped by a gang of criminals”,said Pradhan.
The outlay of Govindpur-Sahebgunj road project was nearly Rs 120 crore.The project envisaged construction of 311 km long double lane road between Govindpur in Dhanbad and the bank of Ganga in Sahebgunj bordering Bihar.
The fund is to being shared by the ADB and the Jharkhand state government in the ratio of 68.4:31.96.Rao was given the job to construct this road last year..
On Thursday,Rao had gone to Sahebgunj to inspect the progress of the works. He was reportedly kidnapped along with three others at Barat Road in Sahibgunj at around 10-30 pm on Thursday.
Sahebgunj SP Vijaya Lakshmi told the media persons on Friday that the police had received a complaint about his abduction. She said a search was on for the kidnappers.
