36 years old CCL rolls on

The span of three dozen years was completed by the Central Coalfields Ltd,a subsidiary of the Coal India Ltd,today.

Set up on November 1,1975,the CCL had seen many ups and downs during its 36 years of existence. If official documents are of any indication,in the last decade, the production had increased from 36 million tonnes in 2002 to 48 million tonnes in 2012.

The company was in the red for long.Till 2004,it incurred huge losses in ten digits. But now this PSU which prefers not to count the amount of the government’s investment made for development of the mines and the accumulated interests on it over the years, claims to have earned a profit of Rs 1484 last fiscal.
