During her visit to Jharkhand capital and its neighbouring areas,Meera Sanyal provoked some powerful responses in a vide variety of men and women, but it is safe bet that no other straight man has ever responded in quite the same way as the businessman Kishor Mantri.”It was like getting inspired by simply interacting with her.”
Remarkably,he seemed to have got impressed by her bytes on Jharkhand’s green landscape, salubrious climate and welcomg people. They among a group of people met on Friday evening, when they had a dinner together.
Meera,a banking professional since 1984,a Member at International Council on Women’s Business Leadership,Chairperson and Country Executive for Royal Bank of Scotland Group in India, who had contested 2009 Lok Sabha elections as an Independent candidate from the South Mumbai constituency only to bite the dust, came to Jharkhand to see some successful projects on education, poverty alleviation and watersheds.
After inspecting the works carried out by the state’s leading NGO-KGVK-she addressed a meeting organized by it at Kucchu Community hall in Ormanjhi.”I have come to Jharkhand for the first time.It is one of the most beautiful states in the country….It was nice to see girls in villages going to school.Keep up the education of girl child”,she advised the KGVK.
When quizzed what had prompted her to contest elections, she said:”Ultimately what matters is governance and policy making.Since policies for the people are framed in the Lok Sabha and the state Asemblies,it is necessary for conscientious people like us to contest election.”
Asked if she will contest the election again and pat came her reply in the affirmative.’I will definitely like to contest”,she said.
