CBI court convicts four IAS officers as well

For the first time,five IAS officers were together held guilty in a case of corruption,fraud conspiracy, misconduct by public servant, abuse of official position, forgery, and cheating with knowledge that wrongful loss may ensue to public exchequer which the offenders were bound to protect.

The case is RC-20/96 of the multi million rupee fodder scam.These IAS officers were Phulchand Singh, Mahesh Prasad, Beck Julius,K. Arumugham.

Initially Sajal Chakravorty,Additional Chief Secretary,Jharkhand,was also accused in this case.But the Jharkhand High Court had absolved in this and two other case of the fodder scam.The CBI had challenged the court’s verdict in the Supreme Court which is yet to dispose off the case.

They were among 45 accused including two former Bihar Chief Ministers-Lalu Prasad Yadav and Jagannath Mishra -and one JD(U) MP Jagdish Sharma who were convicted in this case by the CBI court of Judge PK Singh in Ranchi today.

All the accused were sent to Birsa Munda jail.The quantum of judgement is going to be pronounced by the court on October 3.
